Quote of the Day

"Patient submission to God's will in affliction shows a great deal of wisdom, and piety. We must acknowledge God's hand in affliction, and trust His holiness and justice. Though He puts wormwood in our cup, we vindicate Him, and confess He punished us less than we deserve. The skill of a pilot is most evident in a storm, and so is a Christian's grace in the storm of affliction. We now live in a valley of tears, and patient submission to God's will is much needed. Sometimes the Lord is pleased to exercise His precious ones with poverty, reproach, death, and infirmity, and sometimes He lets the affliction continue a long time. In all these cases we need patience and submissiveness of spirit to God's will. It is hard to learn 'Thy will be done,' when the wind of providence crosses the tide of our will. To be displeased with God when things do not please us is a very bad temper of spirit. It is better to bring our will to God's, than for us to seek to bring God's will to ours!"
